In an interview with a sports publication, Akram shared that he has been unable to communicate with Khan for the past three years, expressing how much he misses the iconic all-rounder.

Akram stated, "He’s my friend, and I miss him dearly. It’s unfortunate what’s happening politically. The legal system is what it is, but his health must not be compromised."

He reminisced about their close friendship post-retirement, clarifying that his concerns are rooted in personal affection rather than political agendas.

Akram added, "Even after our cricket careers, we kept in touch. I would visit him often. I miss our conversations and his presence as a friend, irrespective of politics."

Khan's Health and Legal Challenges

The health of Imran Khan has become a significant issue in Pakistan. Following a Supreme Court ruling that mandated his transfer to Shifa Hospital in Islamabad, Khan was briefly taken to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) for a check-up before being returned to prison.
