Virat Kohli's Recovery Progressing Well Ahead of BCCI Evaluation

Virat Kohli is on the mend from a right hamstring injury sustained during the IPL, with a re-evaluation scheduled at the BCCI Centre of Excellence. Meanwhile, Hardik Pandya is sidelined due to a quadriceps strain, ruling him out of the England ODI series. As Kohli prepares for a fitness test, the cricket community eagerly awaits updates on his availability for upcoming matches. Read on for more details about their recovery journeys and the implications for the Indian cricket team.

Kohli's Rehabilitation Journey

Star cricketer Virat Kohli is making significant strides in his recovery from a right hamstring injury he incurred during the IPL. He is scheduled to report to the BCCI Centre of Excellence (CoE) on June 22 for a thorough re-evaluation and to discuss further steps in his rehabilitation.

A member of the CoE's sports science team recently traveled to the UK to assess Kohli's fitness before creating a tailored rehabilitation program for him. Kohli is currently residing in London with his family.

The injury occurred during the IPL final against the Gujarat Titans in Ahmedabad.

According to a fitness update from the CoE's sports science team, Kohli is progressing well. He was evaluated in London and provided with a rehabilitation plan to follow during the initial recovery phase. He is expected to report back to the CoE on June 22, 2026, for further assessment and to receive clearance.

A BCCI source informed that Kohli will undergo a fitness test on Monday in Bengaluru, following a promotional event in Delhi on Sunday.

Interestingly, during the Indian Test squad's visit to London in 2025, the support staff had previously assessed Kohli's fitness after he announced his retirement from the red-ball format.

Hardik Pandya's Situation

In other news, all-rounder Hardik Pandya is still recovering from a quadriceps strain he suffered prior to the Afghanistan ODI series. He is currently unable to bowl his full quota of overs and has been excluded from the England ODI series.

Pandya will need additional time to regain full fitness.

A source mentioned, "Hardik Pandya has not achieved the necessary bowling volume and conditioning required for ODI play and will need more time to return to complete fitness."

All other players under consideration for selection are fit and ready.

The ODI team announcement will take place once the selectors receive the final update on Kohli's availability.
