The seasoned Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) player has become the first individual to score over 8,000 IPL runs on Indian soil. He reached this milestone on Thursday during a match in Ahmedabad against the Gujarat Titans, led by Shubman Gill. Prior to this game, Kohli had accumulated 7,988 runs in 231 innings and scored a quick 28 runs off just 13 balls, including a remarkable 21 runs off Kagiso Rabada in the second over.

Kohli Joins Elite Company

In this match, Kohli also became the first Indian RCB player and the third overall from the franchise to hit five fours in a single over. He joined the ranks of Chris Gayle and Shane Watson, who achieved this feat in previous seasons. Gayle first did it in 2013 against Pune Warriors India, followed by Watson in 2016 against Rising Pune Super Giants. A decade later, Kohli matched this achievement by striking five consecutive boundaries off Kagiso Rabada.

Despite Kohli's efforts, RCB struggled to post a competitive total, finishing with 155 runs at the Narendra Modi Stadium, marking their first time being bowled out in IPL 2026.
