Virat Kohli Misses Out on Playing XI as RCB Faces LSG in IPL 2026

In a crucial IPL 2026 match, Virat Kohli will not play for Royal Challengers Bengaluru against Lucknow Super Giants due to an ankle injury. RCB captain Rajat Patidar aims to secure a win to climb the points table, while LSG seeks to improve their standings. With both teams making strategic adjustments, this match promises to be an exciting encounter. Read on for more details about the teams and their current form.

Kohli's Absence in RCB's Lineup

Virat Kohli will not be part of the Royal Challengers Bengaluru's (RCB) playing eleven for their league match against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). The RCB opener sustained an ankle injury during the last match against Mumbai Indians (MI) and did not participate in the fielding during the second innings. He was seen practicing with his leg strapped the day before the match, indicating he is not yet fit to field and will only bat if needed. RCB captain Rajat Patidar did not comment on Kohli's condition during the toss.

"We are going to bowl first. It’s quite clear. The pitch looks good, and we want to take advantage of the first innings and apply pressure. The previous game had a lot of grass, but this wicket appears to be clear, making it a good track. Everyone is performing well for the team, and that’s what matters," Patidar stated.

RCB made one adjustment to their lineup, bringing back Josh Hazlewood in place of Jacob Duffy, who had filled in for Hazlewood in the last match. LSG, on the other hand, did not alter their playing eleven, and Arjun Tendulkar remains absent from the Impact Players list, yet to make his debut for LSG.

RCB Aiming for the Top Position

Royal Challengers Bengaluru are targeting the top position in the IPL 2026 points table, having secured 3 victories out of 4 matches, totaling 6 points with a net run rate (NRR) of +1.148. A win against LSG would elevate them to 8 points. Conversely, LSG has achieved 2 wins from 4 matches, placing them seventh with 4 points and an NRR of -0.427. A victory over RCB would propel them to fourth place in the standings, with Rajasthan Royals currently leading the table.
