Virat Kohli Included in India's ODI Squad Against England, Fitness Test Pending
Kohli's Return to the ODI Squad
On Sunday, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced that star batsman Virat Kohli has been selected for the upcoming three-match ODI series against England, pending a fitness assessment. The selection committee has finalized a 15-member team for this white-ball series, which will be captained by Shubman Gill, with Rohit Sharma also making the cut.
Kohli's participation hinges on the results of a fitness test he is scheduled to take in Bengaluru on Monday.
Shreyas Iyer has been appointed as the vice-captain, while KL Rahul and Ishan Kishan will serve as wicketkeepers for the squad.
The ODI matches are set to take place at Edgbaston on July 14, Sophia Gardens on July 16, and Lord's on July 19.
Additionally, the BCCI has updated the squad for the T20I series against Ireland, following the exclusion of spinner Varun Chakravarthy due to injury. Chakravarthy is currently undergoing rehabilitation at the BCCI Centre of Excellence after suffering a left foot injury during IPL 2026. Rookie pacer Prince Yadav has been added to the T20I squad.
Shreyas Iyer will lead the T20I team in Ireland, with Tilak Varma acting as vice-captain.
