New Delhi, September 27: Rajkumar Sharma, Virat Kohli's childhood coach, has praised the cricketer for reaching the impressive milestone of 15,000 runs in One Day Internationals (ODIs), expressing that the entire nation should take pride in this accomplishment.

Sharma commended Kohli's champion mindset, dedication, and preparation, especially after his return to the field following a significant break. He highlighted Kohli's outstanding century, noting that it exemplified the hard work and commitment that have characterized his career.

Kohli's bat has been a source of both records and excitement, as he not only surpassed the 15,000-run mark in ODIs but also celebrated his 86th international century, breaking multiple records during his remarkable innings.

In pursuit of 296 runs, Kohli finished with an impressive 139 runs off just 88 balls, hitting 10 fours and nine sixes, achieving a strike rate exceeding 157. Notably, his nine sixes marked the highest he has ever hit in a single ODI innings.

"This is a significant achievement, and I am genuinely thrilled. The entire country shares this joy. Kohli is a champion player who has once again demonstrated his capabilities. "This is a major milestone. He holds the record for the most centuries, and achieving this 55th century in One Day Cricket is a remarkable feat. With this performance, Kohli's ODI run total now stands at 15,080 runs across 315 matches and 303 innings, boasting an impressive average of 59.13. His record includes 55 centuries and 79 fifties, with a top score of 183.

In the match, the West Indies set a target of 296 runs, with Justin Geaves scoring a century and Amir Jangoo contributing 58 runs off 43 balls. Kuldeep Yadav took four wickets, restricting the opponents to under 300 runs despite a strong 135-run opening partnership.

In the second innings, while captain Shubman Gill scored 110 runs, it was Kohli who captivated the audience and secured the victory for India with his unbeaten 139.
