Vaibhav Sooryavanshi's Parents to Accompany Him to the UK

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has made arrangements for Vaibhav Sooryavanshi's parents to travel to the UK with him. The 15-year-old cricketer has recently been selected for the T20I squads for the upcoming series against Ireland and England. BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia expressed that having Sooryavanshi's parents present will help him feel more at ease during the matches. If he plays, he will become the youngest Indian cricketer to represent the national team, breaking the record currently held by Sachin Tendulkar, who debuted at the age of 16 years and 205 days against Pakistan in November 1989.

Saikia remarked, "It's rare for national teams to include players as young as 14 or 15. After many years, we have a talent like Vaibhav Sooryavanshi. Sachin Tendulkar was once in a similar position. When such a young player joins the senior team, various challenges can arise. Therefore, to help him adjust to an environment where all other players are over 18, we believe having his parents with him will alleviate many potential issues."

The selection committee, led by Ajit Agarkar, recognized Sooryavanshi's impressive performance in IPL 2026, where he scored 776 runs in 16 matches, with a remarkable strike rate of 237.30. He hit 72 sixes and 63 fours, including one century and five half-centuries. Additionally, he received his first call-up to India A and is currently participating in a tri-series in Sri Lanka, played in List A format.
