Vaibhav Sooryavanshi Shines in IPL 2026

At just 15 years old, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi is capturing attention in IPL 2026 with his remarkable performances. He has amassed 200 runs over five matches, boasting an impressive strike rate of 263. The young talent has notably hit sixes off renowned bowlers like Jasprit Bumrah and Josh Hazlewood during his initial encounters with them. His consistent excellence has positioned him as a potential record-breaker, aiming to surpass Sachin Tendulkar's long-standing achievements after 37 years.

Upcoming India Call-Up for Vaibhav Sooryavanshi

As reported by a leading news outlet, Sooryavanshi is likely to receive his first call-up to the Indian national team for the upcoming T20I series against Ireland. This series marks India's return to T20 action following their victory in the 2025 T20 World Cup. The Men in Blue are scheduled to play two T20 matches on June 26 and 28 at Stormont Cricket Ground in Belfast. A source indicated, "He is in contention for the Ireland tour, and the selectors have included his name among several others."

The report suggests that a largely second-string team will be chosen for the T20I series in Ireland, with selectors eager to provide opportunities to Sooryavanshi and other promising newcomers. Additionally, he is also being considered for the T20I series against Zimbabwe from July 23-26.

Sooryavanshi on the Verge of Breaking Tendulkar's Record

Sachin Tendulkar holds the record for being the youngest player to debut for India in men's cricket, making his first appearance at 16 years and 205 days during a Test match against Pakistan in 1989. If Sooryavanshi debuts in the first T20I against Ireland on June 26, he will break this record at just 15 years and 91 days. Even if he makes his debut later in the series or during the Zimbabwe matches, he will still surpass Tendulkar's milestone. Furthermore, Shafali Verma currently holds the record for the youngest Indian to play an international match, debuting at 15 years and 240 days. Thus, a debut for Sooryavanshi in either series would also see him break this record.
