Ghaziabad (Uttar Pradesh) [India], May 22: Kiran More, a former Indian cricketer and chief selector, expressed his admiration for the 15-year-old cricket prodigy Vaibhav Sooryavanshi from Rajasthan Royals. He reminisced about witnessing a young Sachin Tendulkar in action, predicting that Sooryavanshi, a U19 World Cup champion, is destined to bring significant honor to the nation.

Sooryavanshi has taken the cricketing scene by storm, becoming the youngest player in IPL history. He has been impressively dominating the league, hitting massive sixes off the very first ball against top bowlers. His record-breaking performances span U19 ODI cricket, IPL, T20s, and List A formats, showcasing explosive batting skills, sharp game awareness, and remarkable composure—qualities reminiscent of Sachin Tendulkar, who debuted as India's youngest international cricketer in 1989.

More stated, “When I first witnessed Sachin Tendulkar, I immediately recognized his exceptional talent. The same applies to Vaibhav Sooryavanshi; he is indeed special. It’s a blessing to have such a player, and he is poised to bring great pride to our country. Let him continue to play his natural game; he has been divinely prepared for this sport,” he remarked during the Beyond Reach Premier League (BRPL) trials in Ghaziabad.

Currently, Sooryavanshi leads the run charts for Rajasthan Royals and ranks third overall, amassing 579 runs in 13 innings with an impressive average of 44.53 and a strike rate of 236.32, including one century and three fifties. He has also smashed 53 sixes, the highest by an Indian in a single IPL season.

In T20 cricket, he has excelled with 1,280 runs in 31 innings at an average of 42.66 and a strike rate of 217.68, featuring four centuries and four fifties, with a top score of 144.

In List-A cricket, Sooryavanshi has scored 353 runs in eight innings, averaging 44.12 with a strike rate of 164.95, including one century and one fifty, with a best score of 190.

During the U19 World Cup this year, he finished as the second-highest run-scorer, accumulating 439 runs in seven matches at an average of 62.71 and a strike rate of 169.49, with one century and three fifties, and a best score of 175. He set a record with 30 sixes in the tournament, far surpassing South Africa's Dewald Brevis, who hit 18 sixes in the previous edition. Sooryavanshi now holds the record for the most sixes in U19 World Cup history. Additionally, he is India's leading run-scorer in U19 ODIs, with 1,412 runs in 25 innings at an average of 56.48, a strike rate exceeding 165, four centuries, seven fifties, and a best score of 175.

However, his performance in red-ball cricket has been modest, with only 207 runs in eight matches and 12 innings at an average of 17.25, including one fifty.
