Vaibhav Sooryavanshi made headlines after his remarkable innings of 97 runs off just 29 balls for the Rajasthan Royals (RR) against the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) during the eliminator of the 2026 Indian Premier League (IPL) at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in New Chandigarh on May 27. This was his debut playoff match in the IPL, and the 15-year-old displayed exceptional composure, leading his team to a convincing 47-run victory. This win sets up a showdown with the Gujarat Titans (GT) on May 29 in the second qualifier. Following his explosive performance, which included 12 sixes, social media erupted with admiration for the young talent. Among his admirers was cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar, who praised Vaibhav's impressive bat swing and his ability to maneuver his front foot effectively. Teammate Dhruv Jurel informed Sooryavanshi about Sachin's commendation. The young player, who currently holds the orange cap for the 2026 IPL, expressed his surprise and pride upon hearing the news. He referred to Tendulkar as the 'God of Cricket' and shared his feelings about the recognition. "It feels really good, sir. It motivates me. You just told me about it; I wasn't even aware. And of course, everyone knows he is the God of Cricket. If he has tweeted something like that, it's a huge deal for us that a legend like him has tweeted about us. So, of course, it is a matter of pride," Sooryavanshi stated during an interview with the IPL's official website.
