Harare [Zimbabwe], July 26: Rising star Vaibhav Sooryavanshi expressed his joy after clinching both the Player of the Match and Player of the Series titles, calling it a "dream come true". His remarkable performance helped India achieve a 3-0 T20I series victory over Zimbabwe, highlighted by an explosive innings at the Harare Sports Club on Sunday.

The 15-year-old opener delivered a stunning 81 runs off 49 balls, featuring eight boundaries and four sixes, setting the stage for India's total of 192/5 after captain Shreyas Iyer opted to bat first. The Indian bowlers then restricted Zimbabwe to 157/7, securing a 35-run win and completing the series sweep.

Reflecting on his series performance, Sooryavanshi attributed his success to the team's thorough preparation and the encouragement he received from his teammates.

"It felt amazing. Our preparation was excellent during the two or three days after we arrived in Harare. I also played in the Under-19 World Cup here, so I really enjoy this venue. Everyone supported me – the captain, the coaches, everyone – and I’m very grateful," Sooryavanshi stated after receiving his awards during the post-match ceremony.

The young talent maintained that his approach remained consistent despite making his debut in a full T20I series for India.

"My game is consistent with how I play T20 cricket. I aimed to provide a solid start for the team. If I got off to a good start, I wanted to build on that. That was my only focus," he explained.

Sooryavanshi once again gave India a strong start, helping the team reach 64/1 by the end of the powerplay. He achieved his second T20I half-century in just 31 balls before being dismissed by Wessly Madhevere in the 15th over, narrowly missing out on a century.

When asked about his fluid batting style, the opener credited his success to executing the shots he practices regularly.

"The shots I play are the same ones I practice. I just try to replicate in matches what I do during practice sessions," he remarked.

India's total was further enhanced by contributions from Ishan Kishan (29), captain Shreyas Iyer (27), and Rinku Singh, who scored 25 runs off just 14 balls.

Zimbabwe struggled in their chase after Yash Thakur dismissed Brian Bennett with the first ball of the innings, followed by the wickets of Dion Myers and Sikandar Raza in the same spell. Mayank Yadav took three wickets, while Ravi Bishnoi and Ashok Sharma each claimed one. Ryan Burl's unbeaten 54 was not enough as the hosts ended at 157/7.

After the match, Sooryavanshi expressed his delight at receiving both individual accolades, stating it was a long-held dream.

"Yes, it’s truly a dream come true moment. Receiving my first Man of the Match and Man of the Series awards makes me very happy," he concluded.

This clean sweep marked India's third consecutive T20I victory and capped a remarkable breakthrough series for the young opener, who stood out with his fearless batting at the top of the order.
