Sachin Tendulkar Applauds Vaibhav Sooryavanshi's Stellar Performance

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has garnered significant acclaim from none other than Sachin Tendulkar, who recognizes the challenges faced by a young cricket talent in India. The 15-year-old showcased his extraordinary skills by scoring 97 runs off just 29 balls during the eliminator match of the 2026 Indian Premier League (IPL) between Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). Tendulkar praised the record-setting performance and highlighted the exceptional bat swing of the Royals opener. He elaborated on how Sooryavanshi's technique of clearing his front foot enables him to play with such freedom. "Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s bat swing has been outstanding. What’s even more remarkable is how beautifully he clears his front foot to create room for balls aimed at his legs. This freedom allows him to play the way he does. That innings was nothing short of spectacular!" Sachin expressed on X.

Sooryavanshi Aims to Break Tendulkar's Record

At just 15 years and 61 days old, Vaibhav is being considered a strong candidate to surpass Sachin Tendulkar's record as the youngest cricketer to represent India internationally. Tendulkar made his debut in 1989 against Pakistan at the age of 16 years and 205 days. Sooryavanshi's remarkable performance in the 2026 IPL has made a strong case for his inclusion in the Indian T20I squad for the upcoming tours of Ireland and England. Currently, he leads the tournament as the top run-scorer, holding the orange cap with 680 runs in 15 matches, averaging 45.33 and boasting an impressive strike rate of 242.85. To break Tendulkar's record, he must receive his first international cap by October 18, 2027. Additionally, he has been selected for the India A team, which will tour Sri Lanka next month for a tri-series in the List A format against Sri Lanka A and Afghanistan A. Last year, he made his debut for the national side's shadow team in the T20 format during the 2025 Emerging Asia Cup.
