Vaibhav Sooryavanshi Shines in IPL 2026 with Record-Breaking Performance
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi's Stellar Rise in Cricket
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi is making waves in the cricketing world. The young prodigy showcased his extraordinary talent during IPL 2026, amassing an impressive 776 runs, which earned him the coveted Orange Cap. His outstanding performance led to his selection for the Indian T20I squad. Kumar Sangakkara, the head coach of Rajasthan Royals, reminisced about his first encounter with Vaibhav, recalling how the then 14-year-old impressed everyone by taking on renowned bowlers like Jofra Archer and Sandeep Sharma. Sangakkara shared, “I first noticed Vaibhav during a two-week camp in Guwahati. There was a small net where Archer and Sharma were bowling, and no one wanted to bat there. But Vaibhav stepped up and said, ‘I’ll bat.’ Every time he connected with the ball, it sounded like a gunshot. He faced Archer and Sharma without fear, and at one point, Archer just laughed because this young kid was treating him with such confidence,” as he recounted on Sky Sports.
Vaibhav's Bold Prediction Amazes Sangakkara
Sangakkara also highlighted Vaibhav's knack for predicting his own performances during IPL 2026. He recalled a match against Lucknow Super Giants where they needed to chase down 220 runs to remain in the tournament. After opting to field first, Vaibhav approached Sangakkara with a wink, confidently stating, ‘Coach, don’t worry. We’ve got this.’ He then turned to teammates Donovan Ferreira and Lhuan-dré Pretorius, declaring, ‘I’m going to hit 13 sixes. Once I do that, you just take care of the rest.’ Ultimately, he hit 10 sixes, and as he reached five or six, Ferreira and Pretorius exchanged glances, realizing that this young talent might actually pull it off.”
