This remarkable feat not only earned him the Player of the Match award but also the coveted Orange Cap. Following this achievement, discussions have intensified regarding the possibility of Sooryavanshi being included in the Indian T20I squad. However, former Indian opener Aakash Chopra has expressed a different viewpoint.

During a conversation with a sports channel, Chopra emphasized that with two years remaining until the next T20 World Cup, there is ample time for the Indian team to explore various player combinations. He cautioned against hastily including Sooryavanshi simply because of his recent success, as it would mean sidelining established players like Abhishek Sharma or Sanju Samson, both of whom have consistently performed well.

“We still have two years until the next World Cup, and there’s plenty of time to assess our options. While it’s thrilling to see someone break records in the IPL, which is undoubtedly India’s premier T20 tournament, we must not make changes for the sake of change,” Chopra remarked. He likened the situation to a student who is already excelling academically; it wouldn’t make sense to replace a top performer based solely on the potential of another.

Chopra elaborated on the rationale behind the selection committee's cautious approach regarding Sooryavanshi's inclusion in the national team, highlighting his youth. While Sooryavanshi is a part of Indian cricket, he is not the entirety of it,” he stated. Chopra believes that the selectors are aware of this distinction and will make informed decisions, emphasizing that there is no urgency to rush the process. “He has a long career ahead of him, so there’s no need to hurry,” he concluded.
