Rajasthan Royals' Stellar Performance

The Rajasthan Royals (RR) have maintained their impressive form in IPL 2026, securing a significant victory over the Mumbai Indians (MI) and marking their third straight win of the season, which places them at the top of the standings. A standout performer throughout the tournament has been 15-year-old opener Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, who has amassed 122 runs across three matches with an extraordinary strike rate of 248.97. His performance against MI was particularly noteworthy, as he scored 39 runs off just 14 balls. Notably, his explosive start included two sixes off Jasprit Bumrah in the very first over he faced, including a six on the first ball. Renowned South African fast bowler Dale Steyn remarked that Bumrah may now harbor some apprehension towards the young talent.

In an interview with a sports media outlet, Steyn commented that Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has instilled a sense of fear among bowlers, including Bumrah, due to his aggressive batting style. He noted that the first delivery Bumrah bowled to Sooryavanshi was unusually placed in the hitting zone, which is uncommon for the experienced Indian pacer. 'I believe he (Vaibhav) has created a fear factor for bowlers, making them wary of his ability to hit boundaries. That delivery from Bumrah was right in the slot, which is rare for him. Even the great Bumrah must be thinking, 'don't mess this up, because if I do, this guy will hit me for six,' Steyn explained.

'This Kid Isn't Scared'

Steyn further emphasized that Vaibhav Sooryavanshi exhibits a fearless attitude at the crease. He stated that if a bowler delivers a half-volley, the young batter is likely to send it out of the park. The most effective strategy against him would be to consistently bowl good-length deliveries. 'This kid isn’t scared at all. If you miss a half-volley, he’s going to hit you out of the ground. So, it’s best to pull back your length and aim for a good length to have a chance against him,' Steyn added.
