Ahmedabad, June 2: Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, the rising star of Rajasthan Royals, disclosed that he had set a personal goal of scoring 700 runs in IPL 2026, a target he had noted down prior to the tournament. His exceptional performance led him to sweep several prestigious awards following a record-breaking season.

While the Royal Challengers Bengaluru secured the IPL title with a five-wicket win against the Gujarat Titans in the final held at the Narendra Modi Stadium, the 15-year-old Sooryavanshi stood out as the season's highlight, earning five accolades during the post-match ceremony.

He concluded the tournament as the top run-scorer, amassing 776 runs and claiming the Orange Cap. Additionally, he was honored as the Most Valuable Player and Emerging Player of the Season. His impressive strike rate of 237.31 earned him the Super Striker award, and he also set a record with 72 sixes, winning the Super Sixes award.

In a video shared by the IPL on X, Sooryavanshi expressed that achieving his goal was a significant milestone he had envisioned months in advance.

"In my phone notes, I had written that I wanted to score 700 runs in the IPL. I still have it saved. After each match, I noted down my score and the opposing team. That was my personal target, and I accomplished it," he shared.

The young cricketer reflected on his dream of winning the Orange Cap, something he had only imagined while watching IPL games on TV.

"Watching matches on TV, I used to see players with the Orange Cap and thought about how it would feel to hold it. I am grateful for the blessings I have received, and this is a proud moment for both me and my family," Sooryavanshi remarked.

Despite his outstanding achievements, he remains committed to further improvement and aims to help the Rajasthan Royals contend for the title next season.

"This year, we made a strong comeback. I hope we can reach the final and win next year. Personally, I am thrilled with my accomplishments and the lessons learned. I will strive to build on this success next year," he stated.

Sooryavanshi praised the IPL as an excellent platform for young and domestic players to showcase their skills on a global stage.

"I want to express my gratitude to the BCCI. The IPL is undoubtedly the premier league in cricket, providing a fantastic opportunity for young talents and domestic players to shine," he added.

Looking ahead, the teenager shared his long-term aspirations: “I aim to play in the IPL for as long as I can. I want to represent India and achieve great things for myself and my family. Whether in domestic cricket, the IPL, or for India, I want to contribute to every team I play for,” he concluded.
