Vaibhav Sooryavanshi Reflects on His IPL Journey and Future Aspirations
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi's IPL Experience
Young talent Vaibhav Sooryavanshi expressed his initial disappointment when only two franchises—the Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Delhi Capitals (DC)—showed interest in him during the IPL 2025 auction. However, he now feels grateful that RR secured his services. Despite DC's initial bid of Rs. 30 lakh, they only reached Rs. 1 crore for Sooryavanshi, who was eventually signed by RR for an additional Rs. 10 lakh. The Royals later revealed they were prepared to invest significantly more in the 13-year-old. Their decision proved wise as Sooryavanshi had an outstanding 2026 season, amassing 776 runs and earning both the Orange Cap and the Most Valuable Player award. As he prepares for his debut in India, his market value is expected to soar, potentially reaching 20 times what RR initially paid.
Sooryavanshi Discusses His First IPL Auction
In a candid YouTube interview with team manager Romi Bhinder, Sooryavanshi shared, “Honestly, when I was selected, I thought, ‘Why did only two teams bid for me? I play well and performed great in trials; other teams should have shown interest too.’ But after spending a year and a half with this team, I’ve thanked God countless times for bringing me to the Rajasthan Royals.”
He praised the supportive environment at RR, stating that every veteran player is approachable and eager to offer guidance. “The coaches, support staff, players, management, media team, physios, and trainers all feel like family. It’s like being at home; you can share anything with anyone. If something is bothering you, you can talk about it. I can’t express how happy I am to be part of this franchise,” he added.
Following a remarkable season with the Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2026, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi received his first call-up to the Indian national team, making him the youngest player ever to achieve this milestone.
