Vaibhav Sooryavanshi's Historic Journey

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi is on the verge of receiving his first call-up to the Indian national team for the upcoming T20I series against Ireland, set to occur in the final week of June. The young cricketer made headlines by becoming the youngest player to secure the Orange Cap, amassing an impressive 776 runs over 16 innings. With an average of 48.50, he not only scored a century but also hit five sixes during his innings. At just 15 years old, Sooryavanshi is set to break records as the youngest player to represent India in international cricket. While Sachin Tendulkar is famously known for being the youngest to debut for India at 16 in both Test and ODI formats, he only played one T20I at the age of 33. Washington Sundar currently holds the record for the youngest T20I debutant for India, having made his debut at 18 years and 80 days against Sri Lanka in 2017. Sooryavanshi has the potential to surpass this record if he plays before he turns 17.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi Joins India A

Sooryavanshi has already secured a spot in the India A team, where he will participate in a tri-series against Sri Lanka A and Afghanistan. Regardless of his performance in the India A matches, he is expected to be included in the squads for the T20I series against Ireland and Zimbabwe, as many regular players are likely to be rested. He will play under the captaincy of Tilak Varma, with Ruturaj Gaikwad assisting him. Unfortunately, Riyan Parag, who was originally named vice-captain, has been sidelined due to a hamstring injury sustained during IPL 2026.
