Vaibhav Sooryavanshi Claims Orange Cap in IPL 2026
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi's Historic Achievement
In a remarkable turn of events, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has been crowned the orange cap winner for the 2026 Indian Premier League (IPL) following the early exits of Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan during the final match between Gujarat Titans (GT) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on May 31. At just 15 years old, Sooryavanshi has made history as the youngest player to ever win this prestigious accolade. In his second IPL season, he amassed a staggering 776 runs across 16 innings, boasting an impressive average of 48.50 and a phenomenal strike rate of 237.30. His season included one century and five half-centuries, narrowly missing out on the final after scoring 96 runs in a previous match against Rajasthan Royals (RR).
Sooryavanshi Breaks Records
Sooryavanshi has surpassed Sai Sudharsan's previous record for the youngest orange cap winner in IPL history. Sudharsan had set the record last year, breaking the earlier mark held by his captain, Gill, who won the award in 2023 at the age of 23.
