Young Cricketer Sets Ambitious Goal

At just 15 years old, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, a rising star in cricket, has set his sights on a remarkable achievement: becoming the first player in T20 cricket to score a double century. He has expressed his desire to surpass Chris Gayle's legendary score of 175, which remains the highest individual score in T20 history. This record was established during the 2013 IPL season when Gayle played for Royal Challengers Bengaluru against Pune Warriors India, and it has stood for over a decade.

In a recent interview with Kevin Pietersen on The Switch, Sooryavanshi made his ambitions clear. "I want to score 200 in T20," he stated. When Pietersen reminded him of Gayle's record, Sooryavanshi responded, "Yeah, I want to break his record and score 200. If I play 20 overs in any game, I definitely will break that record."

Sooryavanshi's Impressive Track Record

Sooryavanshi's ambition seems attainable given his impressive performances thus far. He scored 175 runs in the Under-19 World Cup final and made 190 runs for Bihar in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. His aggressive batting style has drawn comparisons to some of India's most promising young talents, with his highest T20 score recorded at 144.

Last year, he made headlines by achieving the fastest century in Youth ODI cricket history, scoring 143 runs against England U19 in just 52 balls. This feat placed him alongside Rishabh Pant and Abhishek Sharma as one of the fastest Indian players to reach a T20 century during the ACC Men's U19 Asia Cup match against the United Arab Emirates. After his record-breaking innings against England U19, he stated, "I will try to score 200 in the next match. I will try to play the full 50 overs. The more I score, the more the team will benefit."
