Dehradun (Uttarakhand) [India], August 7: Today, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami recognized the remarkable achievements of athletes and their coaches at his residence, following their impressive performances at the Commonwealth Games 2026 in Glasgow, Scotland.

During the ceremony, the Chief Minister expressed his heartfelt congratulations to all medalists, their coaches, and family members, emphasizing that their accomplishments bring great pride and serve as an inspiration for the entire state, as stated in a press release.

Among those honored were para-athlete Shubham Juyal from Roorkee, who earned a silver medal, and judoka Unnati Sharma from Dehradun, who claimed a bronze medal. Their coaches, Rakesh Singh Rawat from Pauri, Satish Chandra Sharma, and Punesh Kumar Singh from Dehradun, along with Indian boxing team coach Khimanand Belwal from Haldwani, were also recognized.

The Chief Minister remarked that the athletes from Uttarakhand have elevated the state's and the nation's reputation on the global stage through their dedication, hard work, and discipline. He acknowledged the crucial role of coaches, family support, and years of practice in achieving sporting success, highlighting the importance of honoring coaches as well.
