Union Sports Minister Motivates Indian Athletes Ahead of Asian Games 2026

Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports, Mansukh Mandaviya, visited the Indian contingent in Nagoya, Japan, to uplift their spirits ahead of the 20th Asian Games 2026. He encouraged the athletes to perform their best while representing India on a global stage. Mandaviya shared lunch with them, offering support and motivation. On the opening day of the Games, India secured two medals, including a silver in the women's 10m air rifle event. The athletes are poised to carry the hopes of a nation as they compete.
 

Minister's Visit to the Indian Contingent in Japan

New Delhi [India] - On September 20, Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports, Mansukh Mandaviya, visited the Indian athletes in Nagoya, Japan, offering them encouragement as they prepare for the 20th Asian Games 2026.


During his visit, he urged the athletes to perform at their best, maintain their confidence, and embody the spirit of over a billion Indians.


Mandaviya emphasized that the athletes are not just competing for personal glory but are also representing India on an international platform, highlighting the nation's pride in their commitment and hard work.


In a relaxed atmosphere, the Union Sports Minister shared lunch with the athletes, taking the time to listen to their thoughts, provide motivational words, and remind them to enjoy the journey while staying focused on their objectives.


He expressed that each athlete stepping onto the field carries the dreams and hopes of the nation and wished them all the best in their upcoming events.


On the first day of the Asian Games, India secured two medals, including a silver for Elavenil Valarivan in the women's 10m air rifle individual event, and another silver in the team event with Valarivan, Sonam Maskar, and Vidarsa Vinod.


Additionally, Suchika Tariyal guaranteed a medal by defeating Mongolia's Altanchimeg Baigalmaa in the women's Traditional 60kg quarterfinal.
