Union Minister Promotes Fitness and Sports in Keralam with Exciting Events

Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya is set to visit Keralam to promote fitness and sports through a series of engaging events. Kicking off with a cycling event, he aims to inspire active lifestyles in line with the Fit India Movement. The visit also includes a tour of a renowned sports school and participation in the Fun Run event leading up to the 2026 Asian Games. Earlier, he celebrated International Yoga Day, encouraging citizens to embrace yoga as part of their daily lives. This initiative reflects the government's commitment to grassroots sports development and public engagement.
 

Union Minister's Fitness Initiative in Keralam

On June 22, Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, Mansukh Mandaviya, is set to visit Keralam to engage in various activities aimed at enhancing fitness, sports excellence, and encouraging widespread participation in sports.


The Minister will kick off his visit by joining the 'Cycling by the Sea' event, which will take place from Chackai ITI to Shankumugham Beach in Thiruvananthapuram, as stated in a press release from the Sports Ministry.


This initiative is aligned with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Fit India Movement, which aims to inspire individuals to embrace healthier and more active lifestyles through cycling and other fitness pursuits.


Additionally, Mandaviya will tour the G.V. Raja Sports School in Mylom, a prestigious institution known for producing numerous athletes who have excelled in Indian sports.


This visit underscores the government's ongoing commitment to fostering grassroots sports development and nurturing young talent in the field.


Later, the Minister will participate in the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games Fun Run Event at the Kerala University Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram.


This event is part of the promotional activities leading up to the 2026 Asian Games and coincides with the celebrations of International Olympic Day.


Expected to attract over 40,000 participants, including students, athletes, youth volunteers, and the general public, the Fun Run aims to celebrate sportsmanship and collective participation while showcasing Keralam's vibrant sporting culture and enhancing public engagement with the Asian Games.


Earlier, on Sunday, Mandaviya took part in a mass yoga session at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi, commemorating the 12th International Yoga Day. He encouraged citizens to incorporate yoga into their daily routines, emphasizing its value as India's gift to the world.


With over 3,000 participants joining the yoga session themed 'Yoga for Healthy Ageing', Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar also participated alongside Mandaviya and other attendees. During his address, Mandaviya highlighted the cultural and global importance of yoga and urged people to adopt it as a daily practice.
