Agartala (Tripura) [India], September 20: On Sunday, Chief Minister Manik Saha announced that the Tripura government will allocate over 30 acres of land for the establishment of a cricket academy. This initiative aims to support aspiring cricketers from Tripura and beyond.

During the Tripura Cricket Association's (TCA) Annual Awards Ceremony 2026 in Agartala, Saha emphasized the importance of enhancing cricket infrastructure, coaching, and support systems to cultivate young talent. He stated, “As a former President of the Tripura Cricket Association, I have been dedicated to advancing our cricketing framework. It is essential that children have access to quality sports facilities, skilled coaching, and adequate support staff, including physiotherapists, to promote cricket effectively.”

Saha further elaborated on the government's commitment to developing cricket infrastructure, revealing that approximately 30 acres of land has been designated at Sekerkote for a modern cricket academy. He expressed, “Cricket is a sport filled with passion and enthusiasm. The Tripura Cricket Association is actively working on various initiatives to enhance the sport and nurture talent. We are dedicated to providing more opportunities for the youth through sports.”

In a post on X, he shared, “I am pleased to announce that the State Government has allocated around 30 acres at Sekerkote for a state-of-the-art cricket academy. Additionally, the construction of the international cricket stadium at Narsingarh is progressing well.” Saha attended the TCA Annual Awards Ceremony at Rabindra Shatabarshiki Bhavan, where he congratulated award recipients for their contributions to cricket in the state.

Tripura's Sports Minister Tinku Roy was also present as a Special Guest at the event, which gathered representatives from TCA-affiliated clubs, cricket associations, and sports enthusiasts. The awards recognized outstanding performances in TCA's cricketing activities and aimed to motivate players, coaches, and institutions involved in the sport's development in Tripura.
