Tributes Pour In for Tutu Bose, Former Mohun Bagan President
Honoring a Sports Legend
Kolkata (West Bengal) [India], May 13: Suvendu Adhikari, the Chief Minister of West Bengal, expressed his condolences following the death of Tutu Bose, the former president of Mohun Bagan Club, who passed away at the age of 78.
In a post on X, Adhikari remarked that Tutu's "remarkable contributions to sports administration over the years will be forever cherished, and his leadership, vision, and passion for sports will motivate future generations."
He further stated, "I am profoundly saddened by the loss of Mr. Swapna Sadhan Basu (Tutu Basu), who was not only the former president of Mohun Bagan Club but also a former Member of Parliament and a distinguished sports administrator. The bond between Mohun Bagan Club and Tutu Basu was truly special," he shared.
Adhikari continued, "His significant contributions to sports administration will always be remembered. His leadership, vision, and genuine love for sports will inspire future generations. I extend my heartfelt condolences to his grieving family, friends, supporters, and numerous admirers. I pray for eternal peace for his soul. Om Shanti," he concluded.
Mohun Bagan Super Giant (MBSG), currently participating in the Indian Super League (ISL), also paid tribute to Tutu, stating, "Your legacy will always be a part of Mohun Bagan. Rest in peace, Tutu Bose."
Founded on August 15, 1889, Mohun Bagan Athletic Club is recognized as one of the oldest sports clubs in India and Asia. The Mohun Bagan football team has won multiple National League/I League titles (five) and Federation Cup titles (14). The club is also involved in other sports such as cricket and hockey.
