Investigation into the Death of Chirag Tyagi

A para-athlete has been taken into custody for the alleged murder of Chirag Tyagi, a national-level para-athlete and gold medalist. Authorities suspect that this incident may be a revenge killing stemming from a dispute over document verification.

Chirag Tyagi, aged 24, who lived in Basantpur Sethli village in Muradnagar, was discovered deceased near Sai Upvan in Ghaziabad on Saturday.

His family reported that he had just returned from a training camp in Pune and arrived in Delhi on May 29.

They mentioned that their last communication with him was on Saturday morning when he indicated he would be home by the afternoon. After that, his phone became unreachable, and the family was later notified by police about the tragic event.

DCP Dhawal Jaiswal stated on Sunday that an initial examination of Tyagi's body and the evidence gathered at the scene indicated he had been shot.

In the course of the investigation, police apprehended Yash Khatik, another para-athlete who had previously trained alongside Tyagi, on Saturday evening.

Jaiswal explained that the inquiry uncovered that Tyagi had filed a complaint against Khatik during a document verification process. This complaint resulted in the cancellation of Khatik's eligibility, which led to feelings of resentment and a desire for revenge.

During interrogation, the suspect reportedly admitted to shooting Tyagi with a firearm, according to police reports.

Authorities have dispatched teams to locate the weapon used in the crime, and they are also gathering additional evidence.

Legal proceedings are ongoing, and police are thoroughly investigating all facets of the case.
