Intensive Pre-Season Training for Tiigers of Kolkata

Surat (Gujarat) [India], January 9: The former champions of the Indian Street Premier League (ISPL), Tiigers of Kolkata, are gearing up for a robust campaign in Season 3. They are currently engaged in a rigorous pre-season training program in Mumbai and Surat, which includes match simulations, skill-specific drills, and team bonding activities in preparation for the ISPL 2026.

Under the ownership of Aksha Kamboj and the umbrella of Aspect Sports, part of Aspect Global Ventures, the Tiigers are committed to a long-term vision that merges elite training with opportunities for street cricket talent. This season, the franchise is focusing on continuity, clear role definitions, and assembling a squad that can adapt to various match scenarios.

Aksha Kamboj, Executive Chairperson of Aspect Global Ventures and owner of Tiigers of Kolkata, expressed, “From the outset, our goal with Tiigers of Kolkata has been to create something enduring—anchored in culture, character, and opportunity. We aim to establish a platform where street and tennis-ball cricketers can thrive, develop, and aspire for greater achievements. Season 3 is a significant milestone in that journey, and the team's preparation, balance, and mindset instill us with confidence.”

The franchise's vision is further bolstered by the addition of Sourav Ganguly as Co-Owner and Mentor for ISPL Season 3. A prominent figure in Indian cricket and a symbol of Kolkata's sports heritage, Ganguly brings invaluable leadership, credibility, and a profound understanding of grassroots cricket to the Tiigers. His role extends beyond motivation, aligning the franchise's ambitions with a development-first approach rooted in instinctive, street-level cricket.

In his address to the team, Sourav Ganguly stated, “This league is founded on the same principles that shaped my own journey—street cricket, instinct, and determination. What is crucial is belief, clarity, and playing freely. Tiigers of Kolkata boasts a strong squad, blending experience with youth, and we have the chance to make this season memorable. I wish the team all the best for Season 3.”

On the field, Tiigers of Kolkata has assembled a well-rounded team that combines seasoned players with emerging talent. Bhavesh Pawar, the only player retained through all three ISPL seasons, is set to captain the side, providing stability with his all-round skills and calm demeanor under pressure. He is supported by Saif Ali and Rajat Mundhe, both of whom had impressive previous seasons, along with Saroj Paramanik's consistent all-round performances. In line with ISPL's grassroots vision, the franchise has also recruited promising Under-19 players, reinforcing its commitment to providing street-cricket athletes a pathway into professional sports.

Captain Bhavesh Pawar remarked, “The training camps in Mumbai and Surat have been intense and purposeful. We’ve focused on skills, fitness, and match scenarios, but more importantly, we’ve bonded as a team. There’s a strong desire within this group, and we’re eager to start and give our best from the first game.”

The coaching staff has been closely monitoring the team's preparations, emphasizing adaptability, clarity in roles, and playing fearless cricket—key elements for success in the T10 format.

Nilesh Kadam, Head Coach of Tiigers of Kolkata, added, “This group has trained diligently and intelligently. The squad's balance provides us with options in all areas, and the players' attitude has been exceptional. They understand the expectations, and we feel confident as we head into the tournament.”

With the ISPL Opening Ceremony set for January 9 and Tiigers of Kolkata ready to kick off their campaign against Chennai on January 10, the franchise enters Season 3 with renewed focus, strong leadership, and a well-balanced squad designed for the fast-paced nature of T10 cricket. After weeks of preparation and defined roles, the focus now shifts to executing their plans on the field as the team aims to convert their strategies into successful performances.
