Henry's Surprise Visit to Les Bleus

Boston [US], July 10: Thierry Henry, the legendary former Arsenal and France player, made an unexpected appearance in the Les Bleus' locker room following their quarterfinal victory against Morocco in the FIFA World Cup 2026. This win sets up a semifinal match against either Belgium or Spain on July 14.

A video shared on X by the French men's football team shows Henry interacting with the players, embracing captain Kylian Mbappe and greeting Ousmane Dembele and Bradley Barcola, among others.

The French men's football team captioned the video, "Thierry Henry paid a little surprise visit to the Bleus in the locker room."

Henry commended the team's performance, particularly their skill in regaining possession, applying pressure in the opponent's half, and their overall dominance both with and without the ball.

"In possession, extraordinary as usual. But what impresses me most is the capacity the team has to recover the ball. What the team does out of possession is extraordinary. We already know what the team can do in possession, but it’s this capacity to be able to keep the ball in the opponent’s half and continue to suffocate the team," he remarked.

He also congratulated coach Didier Deschamps, the team, and their fans, stating, "Well done Dede (Didier Deschamps), well done to the team. The supporters too because I was watching on TV and seeing this enthusiasm was really extraordinary. So there you go, long may it last."

While acknowledging France's impressive achievement, Henry emphasized that the journey is not over, stressing the importance of advancing beyond the semifinals.

"But hey, we’re only in the semi-final. So it’s not finished. There. It’s beautiful, mind you, but we’re only in the semi-final, it’s about going further," he added.

In the quarterfinal match against Morocco, Mbappe showcased his exceptional FIFA World Cup 2026 performance by scoring the first goal in the 60th minute. Dembele later secured a 2-0 victory, ensuring Les Bleus' place in the semifinals.

Remarkably, Mbappe became the youngest player to achieve 20 FIFA World Cup appearances and the fastest to score 20 goals in the tournament's history. This milestone further emphasizes his outstanding World Cup record, bringing his total to 20 goals across the 2018, 2022, and 2026 tournaments, just one goal shy of Lionel Messi's all-time World Cup scoring record of 21.

This marked Mbappe's eighth goal in the current edition, placing him alongside Argentina's Messi at the top of the Golden Boot race.

According to OptaJoe, Mbappe has scored the winning goal in eight FIFA World Cup matches, the highest number by any player in history.

Additionally, he became the first player in France's history to be directly involved in 100 international goals, achieving this milestone with 64 goals and 36 assists for Les Bleus.
