Tajinderpal Singh Toor's Upcoming Challenge

Asian Games gold medalist Tajinderpal Singh Toor is set to compete in a significant domestic shot put event later this month in Ranchi.

The 31-year-old athlete from Punjab showcased his prowess by winning the men's shot put at the fifth leg of the Indian Athletics Series held in Sangrur, Punjab, on Saturday.

Toor achieved a remarkable throw of 19.97 meters, expressing his ambition, stating, 'My primary objective this season is to excel in major international competitions.'

Earlier in April, he recorded his season's best throw of 21.03 meters during the Delhi leg of the Indian Athletics Series.

The Sangrur leg of the Indian Athletics Series also provided a platform for Annu Rani, a two-time Olympian and Asian Games champion in women's javelin throw, to assess her readiness for the upcoming season. She secured third place with a throw of 55.78 meters.

In a thrilling women's javelin event, Shilpa Rani from Haryana clinched first place with a throw of 57.65 meters, while Rashmi K from Andhra Pradesh finished second with 56.15 meters.

Harjit Singh from the Air Force and Fatema Begam from Tripura were the fastest male and female runners of the meet, respectively, with Fatema also winning the women's 200-meter race.

Kiran Pahal from Haryana dominated the women's 400-meter race, finishing with a time of 54.07 seconds.
