Suryansh Shedge Receives Call-Up to Indian Team
Suryansh Shedge has been selected for the Indian cricket team, stepping in for Nitish Kumar Reddy, who is sidelined due to a quadriceps injury sustained during the ODI series against Afghanistan. Shedge will participate in the upcoming T20I series against Ireland and England.
The 23-year-old all-rounder from Mumbai is known for his medium pace bowling and batting prowess. He recently showcased his talent in a tri-series with the India-A team, where he scored 147 runs across five innings, averaging 36.75 with a strike rate of 120.49, including one half-century. In addition, he bowled 23 overs, claiming two wickets at an economy rate of 6.04.
Shedge gained recognition during the 2024-25 Syed Musthaq Ali Trophy, where he played a crucial role in Mumbai's victory under Shreyas Iyer's captaincy. He made his T20 debut in this tournament, impressing with his aggressive batting style, scoring 131 runs in nine innings at a remarkable strike rate of 251.92, along with taking eight wickets.
His performance earned him an IPL contract with Punjab Kings (PBKS) during the 2025 Mega Auction for ₹30 lakhs. Although he had limited opportunities in his debut season, facing only 11 balls in five matches, he made a significant impact in the 2026 IPL, scoring 158 runs in seven games at a strike rate of 175.66, including one half-century.
In addition to his T20 achievements, Shedge has also made his first-class and List A debuts in 2024, accumulating 439 runs with four half-centuries in eight first-class matches, averaging 43.90, and taking one wicket. In his 15 List A games, he has scored 258 runs and taken 11 wickets.
