Suruchi Singh's Triumph at the Asian Games

Jhajjar (Haryana) [India], September 28: Indian shooter Suruchi Singh expressed her gratitude for the warm reception and blessings she received after securing a gold medal at the 2026 Asian Games held in Aichi-Nagoya. She aims to continue her success and has set her sights on winning an Olympic gold.

In collaboration with her mixed doubles partner Kamaljeet, Suruchi triumphed in the 10m air pistol mixed team event, achieving a total score of 484.6 points in the final. This impressive performance outshone the South Korean team, which took home the silver with 478.0 points, while Iran secured the bronze with 415.8 points. Indonesia, with a score of 349.4 points, was eliminated from the competition.

During an interview in Jhajjar on Monday, Suruchi expressed her appreciation for the nation's support, hoping for continued encouragement as she strives to earn more medals for India. She emphasized her singular ambition: to win gold at the Olympics.

"I am immensely grateful to the entire country for the warm welcome and the blessings I have received. I hope to continue earning their support so I can bring home even more medals for India... My ultimate dream is to secure gold at the Olympics," she stated.

The duo of Suruchi and Kamaljeet also set a new Asian record, surpassing the previous mark of 481.3 set by Uzbekistan earlier this year during the Asian Shooting Championships in New Delhi.

On Day 9 of the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, India celebrated a successful day, securing eight medals, including four silver and four bronze across athletics, shooting, and kurash. Additionally, three Indian boxers advanced to the semifinals in their respective categories, contributing to India's growing medal tally, which now stands at 45, comprising four gold, 20 silver, and 21 bronze medals.
