SuperNova Football Championship: A Milestone for Girls' Football in Bengaluru
Successful Conclusion of the SuperNova Football Championship
The SuperNova Football Championship (SNFC) wrapped up on Sunday at Depot18 in Bengaluru, marking a significant milestone for Capri Sports' Nova Sports initiative.
Over the course of two days, schools participated in competitions across U13, U15, and U17 categories, with a focus on creating a girls-centric football experience, as highlighted in a recent announcement.
Attendees, including players, coaches, and families, enjoyed a matchday atmosphere that elevated the standard for school-level girls' football, featuring multiple pitches and a professionally organized competition format that resembled elite football.
The scale of the event and the attention to detail impressed both schools and parents alike.
The Championship showcased an impressive 69 matches and 222 goals over the two days, with a remarkable level of play. Each team fought hard until the final whistle, resulting in competitive matches across all age groups leading up to the finals.
In the U13 category, Anvesha Pandey from Greenwood High emerged as the Top Goalscorer with 20 goals, while Tanvi Maheshwari from Headstart Academy was recognized as the Best Goalkeeper, and A S Mithra Hayathi from Greenwood High was awarded the title of Most Valuable Player.
For U15, Aayushi Karanth of Greenwood High took home the Top Goalscorer award with 16 goals, Anaisha Gupta from Headstart Academy was named Best Goalkeeper, and Richa Bhatta from Greenwood High was honored as the Most Valuable Player.
In the U17 category, Kakulavaerapu Krishna Manogya from DPS Bangalore East finished as the Top Goalscorer with 10 goals, Preksha from DPS Bangalore East was awarded Best Goalkeeper, and Vaishnavi M from M.S. Dhoni School, Hosur, was recognized as the Most Valuable Player.
Dalima Chhibber, a player from the Indian women's national football team, attended the event as a special guest and expressed her excitement about the exposure the young athletes received.
She remarked, “It has been incredible to witness the energy and enthusiasm that each young girl has brought to the Championship. Capri Sports deserves commendation for establishing such a platform and investing in the growth of girls' football. They are eager to learn and explore the opportunities football presents, and they are not afraid to dream big.”
Dalima further added, “Having been on this journey for many years, being part of this experience is truly special. The quality of football has been impressive, with several standout performances. This platform allows the girls to showcase their talents, assess their development, and identify areas for improvement. It’s a fantastic opportunity for young girls to connect, learn from one another, forge friendships, and discover the potential of football.”
