Match Overview

In the 56th match of IPL 2026, the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), captained by Pat Cummins, are up against the Gujarat Titans (GT), led by Shubman Gill. This exciting encounter is being held at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. After winning the toss, the Gujarat Titans chose to bowl first. Consequently, SRH decided to leave Travis Head out of their starting lineup, planning to utilize him as an Impact Player later in the game. He can be introduced either during the latter stages of GT's innings or at the beginning of SRH's chase.

Pat Cummins shared his thoughts on the decision to bowl first, stating, "We haven't played here before, so we want to get a feel for the pitch with the ball first. Whatever we need to chase should hopefully become easier later on. It's tough to read pitches accurately, but this match is crucial, especially at this intense stage of the tournament." He also commented on the pressure of the game, saying, "I think we've earned the right to give ourselves a few chances to reach the final. We have three games left, and we haven't played in a while." Regarding GT's strong record against SRH, Cummins added, "Abhi (Abhishek Sharma) mentioned it in the dressing room, and I said, 'Perfect, we have nothing to lose now. The pressure is all on them.' No changes to our lineup."

Travis Head has been in excellent form, amassing 361 runs in 11 innings, which includes two half-centuries. He boasts a strike rate of 174.39 and has hit 22 sixes so far this season.
