Sunrisers Hyderabad Defeats Rajasthan Royals, Ending Their Winning Streak
Sunrisers Hyderabad Claims Victory Over Rajasthan Royals
Under the leadership of Ishan Kishan, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) dealt Rajasthan Royals (RR) their first defeat in the current Indian Premier League (IPL 2026) season during a match held at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium. This victory marked SRH's second win of the tournament, breaking their two-match losing streak. Conversely, RR, who had been performing exceptionally well, faced a significant setback with a disastrous top-order collapse, finding themselves at a precarious 9/5 at one stage. This loss halted their impressive four-match winning run.
Despite the 57-run defeat, Rajasthan Royals remain at the top of the points table with 8 points, as no other team has matched their score yet. Following them are Punjab Kings and Royal Challengers Bengaluru, with 7 and 6 points, respectively. Meanwhile, SRH's commanding win has propelled them into the top four, showcasing a robust batting performance. Although their bowling had faced scrutiny in the absence of Pat Cummins, the emergence of young talents like Praful Hinge and Sakib Hussain has strengthened their bowling lineup.
SRH Ends RR's Winning Streak
Sunrisers Hyderabad set a formidable target of 216/6, largely thanks to Ishan Kishan's explosive innings of 91 runs off just 44 balls. His performance provided crucial stability after the early dismissals of Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head. Jofra Archer stood out as Rajasthan's leading bowler, claiming 2 wickets. The target seemed manageable given the form of players like Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Dhruv Jurel.
However, Praful Hinge wreaked havoc on the RR batting lineup, taking three wickets in his first over, dismissing Sooryavanshi, Lhuan-dre Pretorius, and Jurel without scoring. Following this, Sakib Hussain contributed by sending Jaiswal back for just 1 run. Praful Hinge then shocked RR further by removing Riyan Parag for four runs in the third over, leaving them reeling at 9/5. Although Ravindra Jadeja and Donovan Ferreira managed to form a partnership of 118 runs, it ultimately fell short. Both Sakib Hussain and Praful Hinge ended the match with four wickets each.
