He also emphasized India's commitment to peace and the fight against terrorism. The Belgian women's team secured a bronze medal, while the men's team finished seventh in the tournament. Celebrating the India-Belgium Hockey Connection

On September 3, Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized the strengthening partnership between India and Belgium, expressing his congratulations to both Belgium and the Netherlands for their successful co-hosting of the FIH Men's and Women's Hockey World Cup last month.

During his remarks, PM Modi stated, "I extend my heartfelt congratulations for the outstanding organization of the Hockey World Cup held last month in Belgium and the Netherlands."

Belgium's Prime Minister Bart De Wever is currently on a three-day official visit to India, invited by PM Modi.

Modi also praised the athletes for their dedication and performance, noting, "Diamonds have historically connected India and Belgium. Today, we are evolving this historic relationship into a comprehensive partnership. I believe our discussions today will initiate a new chapter in our bilateral ties."

Furthermore, PM Modi reiterated India's commitment to supporting efforts aimed at resolving conflicts and establishing peace, while underscoring the importance of combating terrorism in all its forms.

He remarked, "Whether in Ukraine or West Asia, we back all initiatives aimed at swiftly ending conflicts and fostering peace; additionally, our shared commitment is to eradicate terrorism in all its manifestations."

In the recent FIH Hockey World Cup, Belgium's women's team clinched the bronze medal, while the men's team finished in seventh place. The women's team triumphed over Australia 1-0 on August 29, with Ambre Ballenghien scoring the decisive goal.

Despite entering the tournament as one of the top-ranked teams and having previously won the FIH Pro League title, the Belgian men's team concluded the event in seventh place after defeating India in the classification match.
