New Delhi, September 26: Indian shooter Sonam Maskar expressed her joy after clinching the silver medal in the women's 10m air rifle team event during the Asian Games 2026. She credited the overwhelming support from fans as a key motivator for the team's performance.

The shooting team, which included Sonam, Elavenil Valarivan, and Vidarsa Vinod, received a warm reception upon their arrival at the New Delhi airport on Friday night.

In the women's 10m air rifle team event, Sonam led the Indian squad with a score of 634.1 points, while Elavenil and Vidarsa contributed 633.5 and 630.4 points, respectively, bringing the team's total to 1898.0 points.

In an interview, Sonam expressed her happiness about winning a medal for India. She stated, “I am very happy, seeing so much support from the people and their happiness. We are thrilled to bring home a medal.”

Reflecting on the missed opportunity for gold, Sonam noted that the team gave their all and remains optimistic about future competitions. “We tried our best, and we will continue to strive for gold in the future,” she remarked.
