Shikhar Dhawan Praises Virat Kohli's Determination and Focus
Dhawan Reflects on Kohli's Character
In a recent discussion, former Indian cricketer Shikhar Dhawan expressed admiration for Virat Kohli's relentless drive and clarity in his approach to the game. Dhawan reminisced about leading Kohli during the Ranji Trophy, emphasizing how Kohli's resilience shone through when he scored runs shortly after the passing of his father.
Dhawan stated, "Kohli has always possessed that fierce hunger. Even at the young age of 16 or 17, while playing under my captaincy in the Ranji Trophy, he demonstrated remarkable clarity regarding his game. The day his father passed away, he still took to the field and made runs, showcasing his character and unwavering focus. Since that moment, his discipline and intensity have only grown stronger," during an interview with Boria Majumdar on 'Backstage with Boria'.
On December 14, Dhawan launched his autobiography titled 'The One: Cricket, My Life and More' at a special event in New Delhi, where he reflected on the mindset that has influenced his life.
He explained that the principles outlined in 'The One' resonate with the mission of his initiative, Da One Group, which aims to foster structured athlete development, create accessible grassroots pathways, and enhance long-term capacity building in Indian sports.
Additionally, Dhawan highlighted the efforts of the Shikhar Dhawan Foundation, which focuses on education and community impact, reaffirming his dedication to making a significant contribution to both sports and society.
He remarked, "Everything I have accomplished in my career has been manifested, including this book and its purpose. 'The One' encapsulates the mindset that has shaped my journey, and I aspire for it to inspire future champions. The same principles guide my vision for the Da One Group and the Shikhar Dhawan Foundation. I aim for both initiatives to play a crucial role in India's emergence as a sporting nation and in creating educational and community development opportunities. If my journey motivates young individuals to believe in their potential and remain dedicated to their growth, that is the impact I wish to achieve."
