In Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, on September 28, Indian high jumper Sarvesh Kushare expressed his ambition to clinch gold at the upcoming 2026 Asian Games, while also celebrating his recent silver medal victory in the men's high jump final.

Kushare secured the silver medal after successfully clearing a height of 2.25 meters during the final held on Sunday. Although he matched the height of Chinese Taipei's Fu Chao-hsuan, who took home the gold on countback, South Korea's Woo Sanghyeok finished third with a jump of 2.22 meters.

In an interview following his medal win, Kushare shared his joy in representing India with the silver medal, despite his goal being gold. He reflected on his determination to achieve this with every jump and dedicated his success to his family and the nation, expressing gratitude towards the Sports Authority of India (SAI) for their significant support post-World Championships.

“I felt immense support from everyone. Winning a silver medal for my country is a great feeling. My target was gold, and I focused on that with each jump, but I fell short. I dedicate this achievement to my family and my country. After the World Championships, I joined SAI, and their support has been invaluable,” he stated.

Kushare also acknowledged the Athletics Federation of India for arranging a timely overseas training camp with a structured training regimen, which he credited for his success at both the Commonwealth Games and the Asian Games.

“I am grateful to the Athletics Federation of India for organizing an overseas training camp at the right moment with a solid training plan. It was an excellent training experience that helped me secure a silver medal at both the Commonwealth Games and the Asian Games,” he concluded.
