Exciting Sports Festival Kicks Off in Mahabubnagar

Mahabubnagar (Telangana) is set to host the Sansad Khel Mahotsav from April 9 to April 24, as announced by Member of Parliament DK Aruna. This event aims to foster a grassroots sporting culture through competitions at various administrative levels.

In an interview, Aruna detailed that the tournament will include four sports: Kabaddi, Kho-Kho, Cricket, and Volleyball. The competitions will commence at the mandal level, with successful teams advancing to higher stages.

“From April 9 to 24, events will unfold at the mandal, constituency, and parliamentary levels. Winners at each stage will progress to the next,” she explained.

Aruna noted the initiative has garnered significant interest, with around 3,000 teams anticipated to compete across the four sports. “We have established registration dates, and the games will kick off tomorrow at the mandal level, starting in Narayanpet district headquarters,” she added.

Each competition stage will last four days, beginning with mandal-level matches, followed by constituency and parliamentary contests. The festival will culminate on April 24 with a prize distribution ceremony and cultural events.

“The Governor has been invited as the chief guest for the final day, and will join us to honor and congratulate the participants,” she stated.

Emphasizing inclusivity, Aruna urged youth from both rural and urban backgrounds to participate. “We encourage every young person, regardless of gender, to join in. This event is open to all individuals aged 16 to 45 who have an interest in sports,” she remarked.

The Sansad Khel Mahotsav is designed to promote sports and fitness, aiming to instill a sense of leadership among the youth. A primary goal is to unite the community through sports and to spread the 'Fit India' message to every household.
