Sanju Samson Shines with Century in IPL 2026 for Chennai Super Kings
Samson's Stellar Performance
Sanju Samson, after a sluggish beginning to the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026, made a spectacular resurgence by scoring a remarkable century for the Chennai Super Kings. He amassed 115 runs off just 56 deliveries, propelling CSK to a total of 212-2 and securing their inaugural victory of the season. Upon reaching his century, Samson celebrated with a signature gesture from the beloved Tamil film, Padyappa, emulating the iconic salute of Rajnikanth. He explained that this tribute was dedicated to coach Stephen Fleming, stating, “That was for Fleming. I understand how tough it can be leading a franchise for five years; it’s mentally challenging. I wanted to dedicate this to our coach.”
Samson, who transitioned to CSK from the Rajasthan Royals, expressed his desire to honor the faith the franchise placed in him. “It truly means a lot. The trust they showed in me through the trade instilled a sense of responsibility. I aimed to set the team on the right path. Starting with a new franchise isn’t easy, but it hasn’t felt that way. Everyone has been incredibly kind, welcoming, and composed. Even after losing three matches, our meeting today lasted only 50 seconds, which reflects my personality,” he remarked.
