Former Indian cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar has publicly backed the student protests led by the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) regarding the leaked National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET). This all-India examination for medical colleges has ignited widespread protests across the nation, particularly intensifying over the past week. Manjrekar expressed his unwavering support for the students, drawing from his experiences as a father. He emphasized that the issue extends beyond the NEET leaks, urging the youth not to be stifled. "I stand in solidarity with the youth of India. Do not suppress them, give them wings. They will take India to new heights. This isn’t just about NEET paper leaks. It’s a revolt against feeling generally suppressed in a democracy and the mainstream media’s brainwashing. As a father of two, I know firsthand: suppressing and brainwashing today’s youth will never work," he stated on X.

Manjrekar, who played 37 Test matches and 74 ODIs for India from 1987 to 1996, was part of a successful Mumbai team that won the Ranji Trophy twice (1994-1995 and 1996-97), leading the side during his second victory. Our primary responsibility was to ensure that students do not lose a year. It was crucial to conduct the exams promptly. I instructed the departments to set up fast-track courts. Today, they worked diligently and secured my approval late at night. Tomorrow, there will be discussions in the cabinet, and we aim to finalize the bill as soon as possible next week," PM Modi stated.
