New Appointment in Indian Cricket

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has officially named Sairaj Bahutule as the spin bowling coach for the Indian cricket team ahead of the upcoming home series against Afghanistan. Bahutule, a former spinner for India, has previously contributed to the national squad on a temporary basis but will now serve in a full-time role. This new position means he will not be available to assist any IPL teams.

Bahutule has a history with the BCCI's Centre of Excellence and was part of the Rajasthan Royals coaching staff prior to IPL 2025, where he collaborated with Rahul Dravid. He later joined the Punjab Kings for IPL 2026, working under Ricky Ponting.

Expressing his excitement about the new role, Bahutule stated, 'It is a tremendous honour to be appointed as the Spin Bowling Coach of the Indian Men's Cricket Team. Representing India as a player was a matter of immense pride, and the opportunity to contribute to Indian Cricket once again in a coaching capacity is deeply special. I look forward to working with the players and supporting the team's pursuit of excellence across formats,' as mentioned in the BCCI's announcement.
