Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], July 24: Boxer Sachin Siwach, backed by the IIS, is gearing up to kick off his Commonwealth Games journey in Glasgow, marking a significant chapter in his career as one of India's top amateur boxers.

Following a remarkable rise in the international boxing scene over the last two years, the 26-year-old is now viewed as a leading contender for a medal at the Games, as highlighted in a recent announcement.

Siwach made history in 2025 by becoming the first Indian male boxer to clinch gold at the World Boxing Cup Finals, a feat that has set the stage for his upcoming competitions.

He has maintained his winning streak into 2026, securing gold at both the Grand Prix Usti nad Labem in the Czech Republic and the BOXAM Elite International Tournament in Spain, along with a silver medal at the Asian Boxing Championships.

As he prepares to don the national colors, Siwach expresses that representing India remains his greatest source of motivation. He stated, “Wearing the national colors is always a tremendous honor. Each tournament holds significance, but the Commonwealth Games is a dream for every athlete. I’ve dedicated myself to this opportunity, and my aim is to give my all in every match, making my country proud.”

With a consistent track record on the international stage, Siwach emphasizes that his training has focused on honing the intricate details of his boxing skills.

“I’ve been concentrating on enhancing every aspect of my performance—speed, timing, movement, and overall ring awareness. At this level, the differences are minimal, so maintaining discipline and executing the game plan is crucial. Our training has been productive, and I feel confident as I head into the competition,” he remarked.

Recognizing the increasing competitiveness in international boxing, Siwach is committed to taking the tournament one match at a time.

“Every opponent here is formidable, so I’m not looking too far ahead. My focus is on each fight and performing to the best of my abilities. If I can remain calm, box to my strengths, and implement our strategies, I’m confident I can have a successful campaign,” he added.

Siwach also credited the Inspire Institute of Sport (IIS) for its significant contribution to his journey towards the Commonwealth Games.

“IIS has been instrumental in my growth as a boxer. The coaching, sports science support, recovery facilities, and the overall high-performance environment have been vital in my daily improvement. Having such a robust support system allows me to concentrate fully on my boxing, and I’m thankful for all they’ve done to prepare me for competitions like the Commonwealth Games,” he concluded.
