Rohit Sharma's Availability in Question for Crucial Match Against Sunrisers Hyderabad
Rohit Sharma's Status Uncertain Ahead of Key Match
The participation of star Indian batter Rohit Sharma in the upcoming match against Sunrisers Hyderabad remains uncertain, with a final decision expected at the toss on Wednesday. Rohit has been sidelined due to a hamstring injury he sustained during a home match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru on April 12, causing him to miss several games. In his absence, the Mumbai Indians have experimented with various player combinations, including Quinton de Kock, Ryan Rickelton, and Danish Malewar, but have struggled to maintain their position at the top of the standings. A spokesperson for the Mumbai Indians stated, “He continues to progress. Any call on his availability (for the game against SRH) will be made at the toss tomorrow,” according to RevSportz.
Mumbai Indians Hopeful for Rohit's Comeback
Despite being out for the last three matches, Rohit, who is approaching his 39th birthday, remains the fourth-highest run scorer for the Mumbai Indians, accumulating 137 runs with an impressive average of 45.66 and a strike rate of 165. In the last two games, Malewar (2, 0) has struggled to fill the gap left by Rohit, and it is still uncertain whether the former captain has fully recovered from his injury. Although Jacks performed admirably in similar situations during the T20 World Cup, his inclusion in the starting lineup is still in question following Mitchell Santner's injury, which led to Keshav Maharaj stepping in. On the batting-friendly pitch at Wankhede Stadium, Sunrisers Hyderabad will be looking to end their three-match losing streak against the Mumbai Indians.
