In Guwahati, Assam, on September 30, India's renowned opener Rohit Sharma reached a significant milestone in One Day International (ODI) cricket, becoming the first player ever to hit 200 sixes in a single country.


The "Hitman" accomplished this remarkable feat during a rapid-fire half-century off just 32 balls against the West Indies in the second ODI at Barsapara Cricket Stadium. His exceptional power-hitting allowed him to surpass the previous record held by West Indies great Chris Gayle, who concluded his career with 147 ODI sixes in one nation.

Rohit's explosive start was crucial as India aimed to chase down a daunting target of 406 runs, set by the West Indies after an impressive batting display.


Earlier, the West Indies showcased their batting prowess, amassing a formidable total of 405/7 in their allotted 50 overs. This impressive score was bolstered by outstanding centuries from John Campbell and captain Shai Hope, who capitalized on two dropped catches, along with a remarkable late-innings surge from Amir Jangoo, who transformed his 59 runs off 54 balls into a century in just 70 deliveries.
