Rinku Singh's Father Passes Away Amid T20 World Cup Duties
Tragic Loss for Rinku Singh
In Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh, Indian cricketer Rinku Singh faced a heartbreaking loss as his father passed away early Friday morning at Yatharth Hospital, as confirmed by the hospital's public relations officer. Singh's father had been battling stage-four cancer.
Despite receiving treatment at the hospital, he unfortunately succumbed to his illness. Rinku had to quickly return home from the T20 World Cup squad after his father's health deteriorated following India's initial Super 8 match against South Africa.
After a brief visit to his father, Rinku promptly traveled back to Chennai to rejoin the Indian team ahead of their match against Zimbabwe on Thursday.
However, he was not included in the playing eleven for the Zimbabwe game, as the team chose to field Sanju Samson alongside Abhishek Sharma, leaving Rinku out.
Former Indian cricketer Harbhajan Singh extended his condolences to Rinku and his family following the loss of his father.
In a post on X, Harbhajan expressed, "I am saddened to hear about the passing of Shri Khanchand Singh Ji, Rinku Singh's father. This must be an incredibly tough time for Rinku and his family, especially as he remains dedicated to his responsibilities during the T20 World Cup. My sincere thoughts and prayers are with him and his family. May Waheguru provide eternal peace to the departed soul and strength to the grieving family."
