The IPL 2026 concluded with the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) securing their second consecutive championship by defeating the Gujarat Titans (GT) in the final held at the Narendra Modi Stadium on May 31 (Sunday). Virat Kohli captivated fans during the match, but it was Vaibhav Sooryavanshi who stood out, earning both the MVP award and the Orange Cap. He amassed an impressive 776 runs at a remarkable strike rate of 237. Following his stellar performances, there are growing calls for his inclusion in the Indian T20I squad. The BCCI has also expressed strong support for the young opener from Rajasthan Royals (RR).

BCCI secretary Devajeet Saikia commented on Sooryavanshi's potential, stating that the board is committed to facilitating his rise to the highest levels of cricket. "It was a fantastic season... 'I Aimed for 700 Runs'

In a post-match interview with Star Sports, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi shared that he had set a personal goal of scoring over 700 runs before the season commenced. "I had noted on my phone that I would achieve 700 runs in this IPL. After each match, I would refer back to that note," the 15-year-old revealed. He further explained, "This season taught me how to handle pressure and adapt my gameplay based on the situation. It's crucial to assess the game's context and play according to the team's needs. I gained valuable insights, especially during the playoff matches."
