Raphinha's Injury Update

Philadelphia [US], June 21: Brazil's winger Raphinha has sustained a muscle injury in the back of his right thigh, as confirmed by the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) on Saturday (local time).

During Brazil's 3-0 win against Haiti on Friday (local time), Raphinha limped off the field, adding to his ongoing fitness issues.

According to a statement from the CBF, the injury was identified after an imaging examination conducted earlier that day.

"On Saturday, Raphinha underwent an imaging exam that confirmed a muscle injury in the back of his right thigh," the CBF stated.

This marks the fourth hamstring issue for the forward within the last year, having missed 23 matches for Barcelona last season due to similar injuries.

Previously, Raphinha had a similar injury while playing for Brazil in a friendly against France during the March international break, sidelining him for over a month.

The federation noted that Raphinha will now engage in an intensive rehabilitation program overseen by the medical staff of the Brazilian national team.

"The player will follow an intensive treatment protocol, monitored by the Brazilian national team’s medical staff, to facilitate his recovery and return to action as soon as possible," the statement added.

Brazil achieved a convincing 3-0 victory over Haiti in their FIFA World Cup 2026 Group stage match, bouncing back strongly after their initial 1-1 draw against Morocco.

Under Carlo Ancelotti's management, Brazil started aggressively, initially having Raphinha's goal disallowed for offside, but quickly took control of the match. Matheus Cunha opened the scoring by converting from close range after Vinicius Junior's shot was parried, and he added a second with a powerful finish from a precise assist by Vinicius.

Vinicius Junior then scored a third goal before halftime with a composed finish after breaking through Haiti's high defensive line. However, Brazil faced a setback when Raphinha had to leave the field due to injury in the first half.

In the second half, Haiti displayed more attacking intent and nearly scored through Ricardo Ade's header, which was expertly saved by Alisson Becker. Despite Brazil maintaining control, a fourth goal from Endrick was ruled out for offside.

This victory places Brazil at four points from two matches, level with Morocco but ahead on goal difference, putting them in a favorable position to qualify for the Round of 32.
