Rajasthan Royals Triumph Over Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2026 Eliminator
Rajasthan Royals Secure Victory
In the IPL 2026 Eliminator, the Rajasthan Royals defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), largely thanks to Jofra Archer's impressive performance, where he took three wickets during the Powerplay. Archer commented, "I felt I bowled reasonably well. The entire team executed our plans effectively, and we were rewarded for it tonight." He made a significant impact in the initial overs by dismissing Travis Head, Abhishek Sharma, and Ishan Kishan, which severely weakened the SRH batting lineup as they aimed for a daunting target of 244 runs. He noted, "Typically, the team that secures the most wickets in the Powerplay tends to win. It adds pressure, but I embrace it and strive to contribute to the team's success," after taking out Abhishek Sharma on the second ball of the first over.
The Royals are now just two wins away from clinching their second IPL championship. To reach the final, where they will face Royal Challengers Bengaluru, they must first defeat the Gujarat Titans in Qualifier 2. Despite the team's positive trajectory, Archer expressed concerns about a potential late-season slump, recalling how Punjab Kings lost six consecutive matches and failed to qualify for the playoffs after a strong start. He stated, "We need to take it one game at a time. I believe we are performing well, but I hesitate to say we are at our peak. We want to avoid the fate of Kings XI [PBKS]. We are on the right track, with everyone contributing consistently, which is crucial for our success," while discussing their strategy moving forward.
Archer Praises Sooryavanshi
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, a 15-year-old talent, played a pivotal role in helping the Royals set a formidable target of 244 runs, scoring an explosive 97 runs off just 29 deliveries, including 12 sixes and five fours. Archer remarked, "It was thrilling to watch. The more runs Sooryavanshi scores, the easier it is for us to defend. If he continues like this, he could easily reach 150, which is beneficial for the team." Qualifier 2 between the Royals and Titans is scheduled for Friday at the Maharaja Yadavindra International Stadium in New Chandigarh.
