Muthupandi's remarkable comeback culminated in a silver medal at the 2026 Commonwealth Games held in Glasgow on Sunday.

In a post on X, PM Modi congratulated Muthupandi, stating, "Another medal for India in Weightlifting! Congrats to Raja Muthupandi on winning a Silver in the Men’s 65 kg event at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games. His success makes every Indian happy and proud. National Leaders Celebrate Weightlifting Success

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge also recognized the achievements of Mirabai Chanu, who secured her third consecutive Commonwealth Games gold medal, and Rishikanta Singh, who earned a silver medal. Muthupandi achieved a total lift of 286kg, with 126kg in the snatch and 160kg in the clean and jerk, placing him second. The gold medal was claimed by Malaysia's Aznil Bin Bidin Muhamed, who set a Commonwealth Games record with a total of 299kg, marking his third consecutive title after victories in Gold Coast 2018 and Birmingham 2022.
